APPA National Awards
The American Public Power Association (APPA) recognized two leaders and one utility from the Florida public power family at its national conference last week. Jacob Williams received the Harold Kramer-John Preston Personal Service Award, which recognizes member utility employees who have made significant contributions toward APPA’s goals and enhanced its prestige. Ed Liberty, electric utility director for the City of Lake Worth Beach, received the Mark Crisson Leadership and Managerial Excellence Award, which recognizes managers who raise their organizations to new levels of excellence, lead by example, and inspire their employees and staff to improve processes, services, and operations. KUA received the E.F. Scattergood System Achievement Award, which recognizes public power utilities with outstanding achievements. Congratulations to these winners as well as the other 22 individuals and eight utilities recognized. Read more about the winners and the awards here.

May All-Requirements Project Rates
The average billed demand and energy cost for FMPA’s All-Requirements Project in May was $63/MWh, which was 4.4% below the budgeted cost. This was the third lowest May D&E rate since tracking started. The all-in rate was $3/MWh lower from prior month projections due to higher sales, lower gas prices as well as a higher month-end cash balance than had been projected. Pool and third-party sales were 37% above budget. The Rate Protection Account balance as of May 31was approximately $4.6M, down from prior month. 2025 Hotel Accommodations
FMPA staff recently updated the 2025 list of the hotel accommodations near FMPA. The list now includes options near the Orlando International Airport. The list is available via the Portal.

APPA Utility Salary Survey
APPA is conducting its annual Utility Salary Survey and is seeking responses by July 17. Public power utilities who are at least 50 percent retail sales, with some exceptions, are eligible to participate in this survey. The survey focuses on annual base pay information for 34 salaried positions and 26 hourly positions. Each participating Member utility will receive a complimentary copy of the full final report, which includes a breakdown of salaries by revenue and customer class and regional salary summaries.
